its interesting to do the theoretical numbers on what happens when you combine three sets of factors to an initial $ stake.
The three facts are 1/ a stock with a long term rising trend, two a trailing stop and three reentering the same stock with the total finds sold upon completion of retracement targets.
If the stock is one that trades to technical patterns (and there are heaps of very reliable stocks about, HDR being one of them) then the 'investor' buys x number of shares and when the grand day comes that $5 hits still has x shares.
Without ever even seeing the $5 and probably never picking tops or bottoms exactly, the trader will have the capacity (if any good) to substantially increase his number of shares at any given price over time.
I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not quite sure why you think the investor would do better because if the share price drops, the trader exits and looks to reenter at a lower price but the investor wears all the fall.
