Try as I might I canot find any recent reference to the coal quality of the Teresa deposit othet than it is located in the southern extension of the German Creek Coal Measures.
Coal qality is not homogenous. As an example in the German Creek Coal Measures the VM increases and hence the rank decreases as you move from north to south. The value of the coal also declines as is demonstrated by the following table:-
Mine
German Creek 20% VM US$210 per tonne
Oaky North 24% VM US$205 per tonne
Gregory 34% VM US$175 per tonne (prox)
Teresa 38% VM ???
Teresa being south of Gregory is likely to be a semi soft coking coal. If so its value would be prox US$150 per tonne in today's market provided it retains coking properties.
If it has lost its coking properties it would be worth prox US$100 per tonne as a thermal coal.
As a long term holder it is encouraging to see the progress made on oil and gas but progress on the Teresa sale has bene disapointing. It would be timely to have more information on the coal quality.
