retro, he's alive and active and understands at least as much as a 3 year old -which, to put a mildly humorous spin to it is much greater than the mental age of many of us here. His situation is not at all similar to that of Schiavo who was brain-dead, understood and felt nothing and, due to the need for coloseum-like spectacles she was dragged from TV screen to TV screen (the modern version of the Coloseum) as an animal destined for execution.
The 30-year old man has as big a claim to life as any of us has. Schiavo, was, unfortunately, one way or another, depraved of it. When they pulled the tube out she had already been dead for a very long time -15 years!
