re: banjar the source of timorese anger yak, most of the money supposedly stolen is actually in the charitable foundations and still in Indonesia. Because he is the head of those foundations and has control over how the funds are dispensed, those trying to establish massive corruption by him make out that the money is actually his. In case you haven't kept up with recent news, control of those foundations is being transferred to other people, maybe including the current President. Nobody seems to dig far enough to find out what is happening with the money in the foundations, but in the case of one set up for the armed forces, it is used to support ex military personnel who are pensioned off because of age or injury. Given that there is virtually no social welfare in Indonesia it is left upto organisations themselves to put aside money to ensure that funds are available to look after those who can no longer work to earn a living.
In most cases in other parts of the world, corrupt officials siphon off money to overseas destinations where they can escape to if things go wrong. No even Suharto's greatest critic could show that Suharto ever had any intention of leaving Indonesia to live elsewhere. In fact he never had any intention of living anywhere else than in the relatively modest home he has lived in for the last 30 or 40 years. Other leaders who know him better than most people such as LKY in Singapore do not believe the stories of the massive amount of money supposedly stolen, and there are not many people around as astute or as good a judge of character as LKY.
