In the presumed absence of JG having tendered his resignation we are being asked to approve his ouster before the end of the month. Well and good, but only if we knew what this is about. In the absence of any explanation, or more to the point,a deafening silence,we are being left to decide on a sensitive issue simply by using our imagination. So in line with imaginations running wild, which invariably they do,what sort of agendas come to mind?
On the optimistic side we can speculate that this will amount to a company re-birth. A well managed team bringing home the bacon, with appropriately lean, but fair remuneration for all.We hope that that will be the case.
From a more cynical perspective however darker interpretations arise. Is this no more than a palace coup with the princes jostling each other for supremacy? Or is room being made for a mate? Is it more about personality clashes rather differences over executing company business etc.One could speculate further but will leave it at that.
The point is, with us being expected to blindly follow a "believe, obey, fight" directive we have no idea what is in store for us afterwards. This expectation might have been suitable for certain World War II dictators, but it is not appropriate here.
We need to be re assured that the JG removal is constructive and for the betterment of the company. It hasn't happened. For all we know, despite the announced drilling program, the general state of the company could finish up being worse than it is now.
I,like many would like to vote in favour of the resolution, and given half a chance I would. But if this silence persists all the way up to the meeting, then the only real choice for those unable to attend(the majority)is to abstain. Many I think would feel and do the same. This "cloak and dagger" style could by some,or perhaps more than some,be seen as being too Machiavellian, with the accompanying secrecy doing nothing except to raise concerns as to what we are letting ourselves in for. Simple as that. A pity. Could prove to be a missed opportunity.
