For the young I do hope house prices drop. Not sure what is pushing the present price rise as there is no immigration nor OS students (besides saying low interest rates perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why). Anyway, theoretically, higher interest rate should not only calm the market but more than likely lead to a sell off by those who have over extended themselves. Overly simplified, Sellers not buyers are the advertisers. If mortgage stress becomes real, I expect REA clients will increase not decrease. Just a thought.
