    Yes capex would normally be claimed through depreciation , but in this case thinking more along the lines of expensing a higher proportion of capex upfront so coming directly off revenue in the current financial year rather than paying it off over future years (amortising).
    I am not a tax accountant just see what they tend to do to defer tax to a later date.
    The relevance of the above was that a valuation of a project should take into account when tax is to be paid and it may mean that a company may be running at a statutory loss (for the tax man) but may be making an underlying profit , thats my perception anyway.
