Apart from the failed test of 2 or 3 years ago, there were NOT any phase 3 trials done recently in Australia prior to those just completed in Nebraska.


In the last yhear or so in Australia IMU had done a lot of work on getting the viral vector configeration ( hopefully) correct so it will provide the required immunity.


Despite all the hype about doing the trials overseas the fact is, because of quarantine restrictions with the H5N1 virus, there is only one facility in Australia with all the accreditations to hande the test

The CSIRO lab in Geelong vic is a $300 mill plus world class facilty, but the reality was it is so busy and booked out so far in advance that IMU were having trouble getting lab time to do the testing.

The Lab in Nebraska is a relatively new facility, and one of the few in the world capable of doing the testing.
Obviously as well as being able to get the testing done sooner, there were other advantages already mentioned such as international exposure in a far bigger potentila market etc.
