Lumacom is pleased to announce that it has entered into an exclusive agency agreement with Clear Channel
Spectacolor, a division of the global outdoor media company, Clear Channel, for its new LumaPanel sign currently
being erected on the NASDAQ building located at number 4 Times Square, New York.
Clear Channel Spectacolor is the mega and spectacular sites division of Clear Channel, and specialises in sales of
prestigious high value sites throughout USA. Clear Channel’s New York office has a dominant position in
advertising for Times Square signage and its experienced sales force is now focussed on the sale of advertising on the
LumaPanel sign.
Clear Channel is the world’s largest outdoor advertising media sales company, with offices in 65 countries
worldwide. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and has a market capitalization of
approximately US$19 billion. Sales for 2003 totalled almost US$9billion (25% attributable to outdoor) with net
earnings of $1billion.
The terms of the agreement provide for the advertising to be sold on a commission only basis, a strong indication of
Clear Channel’s confidence that the opportunity will be successful for both parties. The LumaPanel technology
enhances this site, and raises the bar in terms of dynamic advertising signage. Advertisers seeking real differentiation
in the competitive advertising market of New York are expected to compete for this space.
Completion of the project will present to the New York advertising market with a first hand demonstration of the
significant benefits associated with LumaPanel, in particular its ability to stand out from other outdoor advertising
mediums. Early interest from advertisers over recent months is expected to crystallise into advertising commitments
and demand for further signs, as the market is able to view the sign and see the effects of the technology real time.
With the benefits of LumaPanel demonstrated and understood, we expect to obtain a general acceptance of our
technology by the advertising market and build revenues from this and future key sites in all targeted territories.
Clear Channel is also represented in the core markets Lumacom is targeting for its technology including the UK,
Europe and Asia.
The completion of the sign is well advanced, with all LumaPanels having been delivered to New York, and is
expected to be commissioned during December or early in the following quarter. The sign will present an impressive
272 sqms in sign frontage on the western elevation of the NASDAQ building, Times Square. It will be a stunning
feature on the Manhattan skyline, commanding superior exposure from vantage points throughout New York City
and as far as New Jersey.
The Directors are confident that the resources of Clear Channel* bring to Lumacom the necessary combination of
