I think you may have misinterpreted what I said also KLH?
I think GLE have stopped using contractors to develop the GLE site and designs, I don't believe they have turned any soil yet?
I believe they have seen something else that they like a hell of a lot better, which is not enrichment orientated but more like recovery orientated from used nuclear fuel.
GLE, I believe are/have been /and will be using Wilmington as a test bed for other sites is my opinion, in a way I can't see Wilmington ever being built, not as a Uranium enrichment plant anyway, I don't believe adverse conditions came in to it at all, I believe GLE are looking at using Silex technology in a very different way, I believe they will be using it to recover HEU and LEU rather than enriching natural grade Uranium to LEU grade, all of that will take time, it will depend on a number of things panning out for them, things like PRISM, the ARC and the laser recovery method, it wont be an enrichment plant as such, it won't be making the Uranium enriched to a higher degree, it will just be recovering Uranium isotopes which are already enriched to LEU or HEU depending on what type of nuclear reactor the fuel came from, all of that will require licensing etc, it will take years before we get to see the outcome, but I believe it will also be more profitable for both GLE and Silex.
Perhaps GLE should change their name to GLR (Global Laser Recovery?)
If what I am thinking is correct? then there would be little point making more enriched Uranium when it will be coming out of their ears as either recovered
HEU or LEU from REPU which is reprocessed Uranium from used nuclear fuel, both of which would have some nasty actinides in them. all GLE would do is use the Silex system to separate these Uranium Isotopes away from the other actinides.
Like I said it could be years before we know, but I have a feeling this is being fast tracked somehow or will be, because it isn't just the US who is interested in the outcome here I believe the UK is also, and the Germans are even paying for some of the R&D at Savannah River.
