For whatever deluded reasons, Israels' actions are driving more and more Palestinians into support for Hamas. I don't defend Hamas. It is a ruthless organisation. However the "elimination of Israel" is not the same as the "exterminating every Israeli".

The following two extracts from the Hamas Charter are out of context, but they do illustrate that, firstly, Hamas does indeed aim to destroy Israel as a state but secondly, within the wider context of Islam, Hamas does support coexistence with Christianity and Judaism.

First extract:
"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it"

Second extract:
"Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam. Past and present history are the best witness to that."
