A Canadian-Led research team has uncovered the trigger for type 1 diabetes, a breakthrough that allowed them too cure the disease in mice and could ease the suffering of millions worldwide.
"The discovery, a breakthrough that has been the elusive goal of diabetes research, has led to new treatment statagies," the scientists said in a statement yesterday.
The treatment is now being tested for type 2 or obesity- related diabetes, with "strong evidence" so far that it will work, the researcher said.
