Low liquidity can be a friend or foe though generally I don't like it.
Reason being it is hard to exit when a stock is illiquid without impacting on the price.
On the other hand when good news strikes, it will climb quite quickly. The risk then is it can slide back a bit if the buying demand doesn't help it form a new base.
One tip is not to over buy an illiquid stock because if things go against you, it is hard to get out or if everyone wants out the price will tank very quickly.
