surat basin power station announcement Origin have applied to the QLD government for the rights to build a very large (1000Mw) Gas fired power station in the Surat Basin, this would suck in a significant amount of the fairview, denison and bowen trends and be the catalyst for new well development.

this would be the largest development of it's ki nd since the loy yang, and will be replicated in Victoria in a similar site. Both states are likely to approve the projects as they will generate significant jobs, revenue and infrastructure for the regions

Applications where lodged last week and will take some time to go thrrough approval, Origin expect that the stations will be up and running within 4 years.

This would stimulate further the growth of the QLD CBM market, and require the further appraisal and development of the fields in the region.
