I would have thought it obvious that we are in a resources boom.

If you must live in Sydney rent until/unless you find your Casa del Sol.

If you want to invest in RE then follow the resources and buy in Perth, Mt Isa or Townsville. There are others of course but you get my drift.

I have no argument with earning your money in resources and spending it on lifestyle in Syd. Just don't mistake lifestyle with investment.
