It certainly does test character and beliefs when you're buying so far into the red that you almost become colour blind. However, when you know that the company you're investing in is a good one like A2M,then your decisions become easier. What you said about becoming over confident and complacent is a good one! It's best to be mindful of where we invest, how we invest, and limit our downside risk in companies that are riskier, and more short term.
The idea is to never become over confident, complacent, and monitor your investments regularly.
I monitor mine like a mother watching over a child.
