Not sure if it is still the case but the mine plan that was laid out in the scoping study was for Comstock to be mined and processed first. Comstock is lower grade than shamrock (approx 2g/t vs 3.5g/t). The scoping study suggests that Comstock ore should be used for the mill ramp up and a buffer stockpile.
Also the scoping study says that by mining Comstock first that pit can later be used as the dumping ground for the shamrock waste rock. This means the disturbed area remains less than 10ha thus not triggering additional environmental requirements and approvals.
