reality check

1. A 1971 model reactor designed for 8.2 quake and a 5 meter tsunami cops a Magnitude 8.9 quake and a 10meter tsunami and sort of survives we hope.
2. 1 billion Chinese + 1 BILLION Indians + 1/2 billion Russians (eastern Europeans) who currently live on 1000kgoe of power per day want to live like Americans, Englishmen, Europeans and Kuwaitis who use between 5000 and 12,000 kgoe. So three times the amount of people in the world are going to want to use between 5 and 10 times more power than is currently used. (what other source besides U203 is there?
3. Oil running out what's all that talk about peak oil, green house gases, need to burn lignite rather than coal now (where's all the good quality coal now?) and clean environment, versus nuclear power.
4. Nuclear is here to stay and here to get bigger, if they bring the plant under control over the next 3 weeks (it will take that long to be sure) it will actually turn to a positive "1971 design survived a 7 timers large quake and double the size wave", think how much more the new reactors will cope, lessons learnt, people want power, memories are short. think 100,000 dead Indonesians from a tsunami, the world moved on from that quick.
5. Bumps on the way, but the way is up, bargains to be had now for sure.

Does any one here actually think we can survive or would even want to on 1/10 the power we now use, think heat wave no cold beer, no aircon, no good nights sleep, damn got to ride a push bike to work in 42 degs heat. Or will i accept that some cancers will increase 100 km around some plants need to be evacuated for 100 years, thus far only one plant but assume 3 more over the next 25 years. (hey wait power means more research can be done, more experiments, more tests, more development.)

sorry but humans are selfish we drive cars and kill shit loads that would never happen on bikes, gonna give up the car any time soon.
