There has been a few articles written about this. And they extrapolate reasons including foreign ownership, and then on to%100 US reliant only . Does anyone know of any official mention on the US ownership criteria, which would nix our chances?

The following article is a elaboration of the situation thus far. The problems with the initial participants seem to be all about Mount Pass. 10% chinese ownership and worse still not the right heavy rare earth elements that the DOD needs.

The only thing negative for LYC is that everybody knows that we are forging ahead whether or not we win the award. The DOD could delay enough past the point of need and invest from a later phase saving a cool$40 mil. Or not at all in LYC and be an ordinary customer later Man! I remember the urban myth(?) of $4000 hammers being used at the pentagon maintenance. We will charge them an arm and a leg.....
