Thankyou sweet crude for making a well reasoned post....almost all the others have been a complete waste of time.
To date VCR have made many submissions and publication on the efficiency of the Ventrassist. They have all been very very positive and have ranked number 1 for all LVAD's. This is FACT !
HTW, to my knowledge, hasn't made a publication about their results yet. So until they do, and on a much larger scale than 20 implants, it is too early to classify them as having the best LVAD. Size of the machine IMO is not the most important thing....its the technology within. Keep an eye on other LVAD's within the industry to see what results others are getting.
I've also read that people are suggesting that the size of the market isn't that large. Maybe not now but I'd suggest in a few years LVAD's will be as common as the Cochlear device. The medical community is rapidly seeing the benifits of a LVAD and this is continuing to grow with companies like Thoratec, Ventracor, Terumo etc. LVAD's are an emerging technology.
