Maybe because a few weeks ago they didn't know the price was 'much higher' than it would be today. Regal employees don't have a crystal ball. I'm assuming they was caught off guard by the collapsing coal price and very bad quarterly production figures. At this stage they're probably just wanting to exit the trade and salvage whatever capital they can (pennies in the dollar).
