well Mozart, I think your idea is warped given the "boom" the Middle East has experienced the last 50 years after they simply nationized their mining/energy industry.
But even if it is true, you can sleep peacefully in the knowledge that you grandchildren will have the precious minerals to build a decent lifestyle long after you are buried amongst the minerals. And as ACB suggests, we would only piss the money up against the wall. His attitude is it would be better to give the money to foreigners to piss up against the wall (in Wall Street no doubt!)
