Am i the only one missing the fact that these are only idea's put forward by someone that hasn't even read the Henry Report (That's right Both Rudd and Swann have admitted to not reading the report). And don't forget that these "Recommendations" (of which the mining tax was not part thereof)needs to ratified by the lower house, upperhouse and the Senate before being enacted.
Only various aspects of the original proposal will get through, if any, (only the popular ones will get through, eg 12% super, and the Rudd government will utilise this for the election) and the majority of the australian public will voice their concerns when there is an election - coming up sometime between August 2010 and May 21st 2011 - somehow i don't think it will pass through the senate before a caretaker government is announced - panic for nothing as i see it, just a good buying opportunity on the markets for those that take an interest.
