Other studies have shown similar results, some indicate a slight improvement in longevity for nuns but, it seems, invariably more so for monks.
Needless to say all researchers refuse to identify the pink elephant in the room (the relentless pressure on men to 'keep your wife happy; 'happy wife happy life etc.). It's just mind-boggling that it has such a huge effect (5 years in the German study) but little or none negative effect on women (in terms of life expectancy). Nagging kills basically.
