I think the study comparing nuns and monks is comparing a very particular cohort. There are plenty of other studies that consistently demonstrate the impact of single hood

there are also plenty of theories about the underlying causes. They range from loneliness to poorer health outcomes, socioeconomic status and the impact of the ability to connect and show empathy.

but I imagine it suits angry old men to find cause elsewhere by looking at nuns and priests. I wonder whether the study moderated for sexual habits. Pun intended.
