I think loneliness is factor that can cause issues in single men that will shorten your life. Monks are not lonely but they are not exposed to the pressure of 'keeping your wife happy'. As a single man you should probably have a good network of friends to fully benefit (i.e., gain those 5 years) from the lack of pressure to maintain "happy wife happy life".
