The reason I started looking into this more closely was that I noticed a drop in blood pressure by about 10 % after getting out of what I would describe as a stressful marriage. I felt that no matter what I did I could not keep the wife happy and this stressed me out. Curious as I am I thought that the disappearance of stress symptoms and lowering of blood pressure should be beneficial to my health. What really surprised me though was that the studies indicated no or moderate benefits for nuns whereas monks benefited greatly in terms of life expectancy. I am not saying women are bad for men (as most live longer with a woman's company) it's just that men seem to cope poorly with married life compared with men who voluntarily and happily seek a life without a woman by his side.
