thing is it is individual. women can tell the same stories i think. some men are much worse at being partners than they like to think and the reverse. circumstances provide context and insight.
nevertheless I'm happy for you that you are healthier for it and i am sorry you had to experience it.
however in general you can't generalise studies on a very particular cohort to another where circumstances are different. it's just not good science.
