Like many, I was becoming a bit nervous about the lack of confirmation re the MOU with 3m - supposedly due the end of Nov. So Friday, called CEO, Matt, in NY. Matt assures me there is no cause for panic. The delays are of the normal "paper passing" variety coupled with the holidays and there are no suggestions that they are not on track. In terms of other items, Matt said the trials of the printer for Note Printing Aust went very well, with all parties happy with speed, quality, etc. There will now be a testing process by the printing Co and Matt expects that by April they will be ready to order a printer. Cost - around 2 mill. This printer will go through a long period of testing - now here, we are talking years, not months. After that, it is hoped that there will be a rollout to various countries around the world. In all, there is the possibility of maybe 30. I queried whether 3M were getting up close and personal to other states or countries re the rego tags - the answer was a definite yes but there was not much info forthcoming in this area - understandably so. But Matt did reiterate a phrase I have heard before - this will be Mik's year. And I tend to agree.
There were more questions, but of course, at the time, I forgot them. I will call again in a month or so.
