Hey all. Brian here. I joined back up with the company (LIFX) last month, I'm really excited to jump back in and looking forward to 2021. I hope everyone has been safe and healthy over this last year or so.

I wanted to pop in and give just a bit more context on this issue, things that are hard to know from the official memo above.

We were alerted to a potential short circuit issue if Switch was installed improperly by a homeowner or electrician. This impacted a very small number of Switch sales, under 50. We reached out directly to those customers, provided them a new set of low profile screws that would help mitigate risk, and paid for an electrician to make the change. The unsold inventory were updated with this new screw kit and sold through the LIFX store. The next manufacturing run included a minor design change to help mitigate this risk even further.

Any action taken like I described above is required to be communicated, and is labeled a recall.
