Not hard to freeze wages, even less hard not to award dividends when high debt levels and falling commodity prices are impacting your business. Not to mention cutting back on high cost advisers and consultants, even more so when those consultants are former highly paid executives who walked away with millions from the Arrium treasury upon retirement.
Basic commercial business decisions I would have thought. Not hard at all if you care about your business and employees, have integrity and some spine.
