The technique involved isn't patentable, Avita's patents only apply to the design and function of their plastic kit. But given Avita's losses and the limited market I can't see anybody being interested in even trying to compete. There are a lot more costs involved in the business than simply producing a made in China plastic kit with some leds, a heating element and a timer. Perhaps a competitor could add bluetooth communications, a speaker and mp3 capability?
