Under the brand name Ecoflex, BASF offers biodegradable, aliphatically aromatic copolyesters. On compost heaps, Ecoflex decomposes within a few weeks without leaving any residues behind. Whether in formulations made of thermoplastic starch and biodegradable synthetic polymers, so-called starch blends, or as a mono-application in the realm of flexible films, Ecoflex offers customers completely biodegradable packaging.

The properties of products derived from starch, polylactic acid (PLA), cellulose, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and lignin can all be further improved with the use of Ecoflex, thereby opening up new applications.


Moreover, Ecoflex alone is also suitable for numerous applications. Mulch film for agriculture, cling-wrap film or coatings for packaging and breathable films in the hygiene sector are but a few examples.
