"....In the first quarter, the Dutch company plans a worldwide launch of its tech, called Minicare, along with the first diagnostic for the heart attack marker troponin.
While conventional lab testing in hospitals can take up to 90 minutes to return troponin results, Philips’ platform takes around 10 minutes, the company says. As only around 15% of patients presenting in emergency departments with chest pain are suffering a heart attack, the test could quickly identify which need further care.
After this Philips will expand its test menu, first with a test for B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), an indicator of heart failure, followed by “a whole series of markers in the pipeline”, says Mr Rijntjes. “We’re not sharing exactly what they’re going to be, but they will be focused on the emergency department.”..."
