    recession can have a real world impact and definitely has a valuation impact

    tech sector in bull market trades on price/sales ratio, in a bear market it gets derated as focus goes on balance sheet, cash position and price/earnings ratio. price to sales can become a dirty phrase if things get gloomy enough

    but if there's exceptional growth that belies the malaise you can get occassional stars as people hunger for the few stories that deliver it
