That's a legitimate view @Pledge but plenty disagree.

Many of us are very appreciative of the great time expended and generously shared expertise from several posters. One of the benefits of HC is the education of unsophisticated, insecure and vulnerable investors. The posters cited by @stokdog provide that education and reassurance, always tempered by appropriate cautions. Many posters express deep appreciation for these special efforts.

All stokdog has done is indicate a way for this appreciation to be expressed. All within the normal practices of HC. That's what these awards are for - to draw attention to and recognise special contribution. No reason for a recipient to be embarrassed or to withdraw their contributions. We know those posters have not sought special recognition.

If anything, your caution does the opposite to what you are trying to ensure. Until now all we had was stokdog's suggestion and some favourable responses. Many more readers than those responders would have seen stokdog's suggestion and either followed it or ignored it. No great fuss ensued therefrom.

The particular posters under discussion were anonymous before this thread. They are equally anonymous now. They possibly have no need for this flurry of recognition but I doubt they are troubled by it. Nothing has changed. They won't go away. Not their style.
