You can draw a channel where you like. The channel might hold for a while but most break at some point, especially when too steep. However the uptrend can remain in place for at least for as long as you see higher lows and higher highs. You can also get false breaks which is why I never call an uptrend on the first sign of it. I wait until it becomes convincing. Likewise, a brief lower low would not necessarily break the uptrend, especially with low volume trades.
