    market cap is constant, divide this by new number of shares, you get the new share price. Theoretically there should be no change in the dollar value of everyones holding in the stock. What happens to the share price following consolidation can be interesting. It can attract more investment, as some investment funds/brokers only look at stocks above a certain share price range (which is a funny way of assessing stocks!).
