    "Candlestick charting for dummies' is very good. Or use the asx charts; go to the stock code, select it, the select 'charting ' on the left sidebar. Opening up that option gives you lots of ways to play.

    The market tends to be run on wishful thinking and rumor. One good news story sees a wild leap. One share placement sees a drop. It's a very big auction. It goes a little nuts at times. You just have to watch and learn.

    If you do the share market game the asx runs, that can be good but it tends to turn into daytrading with the 'win win to a deadline' feel that an end date and leaderboard can create. Some of us like to pick a good stock and hold on awhile..decades if possible!

    Excel trading is pretty good.3 to 6 months will give you a feel for it.
    Take it easy. You get worse results by hurrying.
