Is a broker who fails to register a client's purchase on time, effectively short the amount of the dividend?
Plus or minus any movement in the transacted price following the due registration date?
You might like to check that.
Plus the broker's obligation to make good any loss experienced by the client.
I would be suprised if this ever becomes an issue in practice.
Does your research suggest otherwise?
My impression is that the overwhelming majority of brokers are dilligent
in relation to prompt recording.
