Bill Express Breaks New Ground
Melbourne, 20 December 2005 – The directors of Bill Express Limited (ASX; BXP)
are pleased to announce that it has entered into a formal agreement with Ezikey
Group Pty Ltd. This agreement establishes the Bill Express network as a principle
partner to process stored value card top ups for prepaid electricity.
Aurora Energy currently has approximately 38,000 households in Tasmania using
these stored value cards. These cards allow a household to prepay their electricity.
Prepayment is popular internationally and consultants have estimated that there are
10 million households using prepaid power in the United Kingdom.
“Ezikey has contracted with Bill Express to firstly service its Tasmanian client, Aurora
Energy, and will use the relationship as a stepping stone for its clients outside of
Tasmania. We are very excited about the opportunities and potential revenue that this
project can drive through our network. This contract is another example of the Bill
Express network being used to vend any prepaid or virtual product,” said Ian
Christiansen, Chief Executive Officer of Bill Express.
Aurora is the dominant electricity retailer and distributor in Tasmania and has licences
for retailing electricity on the mainland. Ezikey Group Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Aurora
Energy Pty Ltd, provides back office prepayment services for utilities across Australia.
Record November Sales
Sales levels for the Dial Time business reached new record levels for the month of
November 2005. Sales for the month reached $63.4 million which equates to a 5%
increase compared to the month of October 2005 based on a 31 day period.
