@greystone; your unsupported caustic assessment of peer reviewed scientific research and lack of understanding thereof is noted.
4YI, even in NE Victoria where I live the evidence from mountains of data is there for all but the ideologically blind to see.
Temperature and rainfall records for our region date back to the 1860s and demonstrate:
. Since 2000 rainfall has trended down so sharply that our long term average has fallen from 725mms to 685 mms.
. The last ten years have produced the highest temperatures ever recorded means, maximums, averages, medians ...
. After the entire region was burnt through in 2003 and again in 2009 it's being burnt through yet again, that despite some of the most active 'control burning' you could possibly imagine!
. Soils throughout the region are so dry only larger streams are flowing while the Hume Dam, Lake Eildon and the Dartmouth Dam are at just 40%, 40% and 50% levels - Victoria's major dams have already been drained of 'reserves' and will fall sharply in the remaining dry months.
Why don't you ask and actually listen to those whose farmland and properties have been burnt through already this fire season what they think is happening.
