Bellcurve claims NOAA has declared this an El Nino cyclone, yet the SOI data doesn't fall within this definition, but the SOI can if you take the rolling average back far enough. The SST may fit within the definition, but we know NOAA is prone to statitstical manipulation. But more importantly, when you look out the window in a lot of Australia its wet and cooler than it should be for an El Nino year.
