I suppose that decoupling is probably not quite the right word but imagine if you will what may have happened if there wasn't the strong growth in Asia etc. I do think however that the influence that the US has on the world, while significant, is diminishing. Plus it's the US that got us into this mess in the first place.
As I write this I am watching what is happening in the US re rate cut, It also appears that margin calls seem to be the big issue in the Asian markets.
I don't think anyone really knows how this will play out but one thing for sure we will be all smarter after the fact.
