I know we are all very eager to get the news about the first patient being dosed with TT-034 but I think it is worthwhile reflecting on the difficulties of securing the first patient.
After screening and selection, the first patient will have to spend 3 days in hospital to establish a viral baseline, receive the treatment and then have a day's observation. The patient will then have to attend outpatient service once a week (if all goes well) for the next six months.
If the patient does not live locally in North Carolina, then travel and accommodation will have to be arranged as well as possible time off work. These are factors over which Benitec has little control.
Once the first patient is dosed, we a have a six week window to prepare for the second patient, so the problem won't be so obvious.
I am betting the we will get news by the end of next week.
