Gage held a low key launch for the new Red Rye beer which won a gold at the Sydney judging this month (mentioned earlier in this forum). I went along to have a taste and found it a nice drop, a solid 6.1% I expect this to rival Little Dove.
The attendance was small, about 30 folk and most were Gage employees, the directors were absent, properly at a similar launch in Melbourne. Talking with a few of the lads and you could feel their enthusiasm for the brewery, mentioned they are flat out and the Stadium deal is progressing better than anticipated (must be on the profit side then) asked about a canning line and it was mentioned that it has been investigated as to the cost of a suitable high speed line but not in the near future.
the keg line is running full time which is great as the % profit from kegs is higher than bottled.
All up I came away with a warm and fuzzy, was it the beer I drank or the vibes from the chat around the table? Who cares I was happy on both counts.
