Yes...its limit orders that are not filled.
The significance for me is based on comments in sme old text books on share-trading.
(1) Check whether buy side is larger than sell side or vice versa to get an indication of where the price might move to.
(2) Check the average size of buy orders vs average size of sell orders. The side with largest size average orders (particularly substantially larger size averaqge order) implies this is the smart money vs the smaller sized average sized order (the less informed smaller shareholders0.
Of course bot trading throws a spanner in the works as does large orders sitting off-screen and filled when the share price gets there.
