    Earlier this evening Redflow posted this on FB, the 3rd most recent post.

    In the list of recommendations from the Clean Energy Council in the linked article at the end of the post is this commentary on Utility-scale and bulk energy storage, under the heading of;

    From page 24 in https://assets.cleanenergycouncil.org.au/documents/Clean-Energy-Council-Power-Playbook.pdf

    I've highlighted this particular part because I believe both the California Energy Commission (the CEC in this instance too) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) are engaging in a targeted plan to do just that, bring selected manufacturers and suppliers of energy storage well down the cost curve. Redflow is one of the few manufacturers targeted by both the CEC and DOE and also in the running in Australia currently.

    To put some numbers on the cost reductions aimed at, courtesy of an article posted by @SynQuasi here;

    "The DOE wants to see costs for long-duration storage drop 90% over this decade, to make it a cost-effective tool for a future low-carbon grid."

    From https://www.canarymedia.com/articles/long-duration-energy-storage/long-duration-storage-gets-big-boost-with-325m-from-doe

    And also to boot, a quote from the bloke at the DOE re the Faraday Microgrids 34.4 MWh long-duration energy storage project for the Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, California. That is the one that will have 34.4 MWh of zinc-bromine flowbatteries from Redflow, enclosed in its modular energy pods;

    “These projects were picked after an extensive — and I mean extensive — internal review process,” said Crane, who oversees the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations. “If we’re backing it, that’s a good sign.”

    Just thought I'd join the dots that I see.
