    That’s a little bit naive. The grid was originally designed to have electricity flowing from the centralised generators to the energy consumers. Feeding electricity into the grid from residential properties only really works if there’s demand for that power within that small section of the grid: the transformers and switching yards aren’t designed to pull power back and distribute it elsewhere.

    That’s why you need approval from your local distribution company to feed power into the grid: there are limits to how much can be absorbed by other users in the absence of local energy storage systems.

    Long term, the grid will need to be re-engineered to handle that sort of power backflow. But right now, it’s not there, making your posited scenario infeasible. At least for now.
