Quite recently someone mentioned Ed Husic, or more completely, The Hon Ed Husic MP Minister for Industry and Science.

So I did a search for husic redflow, the first item on the list was his Address to the National Innovation Policy Forum, 27 November 2023 at Parliament House, Canberra.That's slightly less than 6 months ago.

There seems to be a desire to do something about batteries at the Federal level, to help get things moving. Maybe things are getting a bit closer now to policy, action and $? Perhaps by the time plans are complete for the development and construction of a large-scale zinc-bromine flow battery prototype and a feasibility study for the establishment of a fully automated large-scale zinc-bromine flow battery manufacturing facility in Queensland. Something ready to move forward with at scale if the designs and numbers stack up.

There is the possibility the PM could short circuit that idea next week, but that could be about some one else too, we don't know. Perhaps Redflow will know a little more about timing of any Redflow specific announcement when it gets close, being sooner or later.

Oh, and if Acciona find the Energy Pod performs to their requirement or better, well, they will have been watching too. Another non lithium battery system supplier who could deliver at scale for them if needed. I don't recall seeing the length of the trial mentioned but I would expect at the very least 6 months, more likely 12 months, also depending on what other competition needs assessing/installing too, so the timing would probably work well if everything works in our favour.
